A Little About Me
· Bachelor's in Psychology
· Diploma in UX Design
I was born and raised in Vancouver and graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Since then, I dove into the world of e-commerce where I worked as an advisor at Shopify to assist entrepreneurs with their stores and websites. Having seen so many websites, I noticed that there was a clear difference between strong performing websites and poor performing ones. The key difference between the two was based on how easy it was for the user to complete their tasks and successfully make a purchase. I learned that the usability of the website is directly correlated with how many sales a store generates and is what really intrigued me into learning more about UX design.
My design journey
Fast forward a couple months after leaving my job at Shopify to pursue my dreams in UX, I enrolled in a bootcamp to learn the ins and outs of this industry from UX research, UI design, usability testing and brand development. After my bootcamp ended, I was offered a contract role to become a teaching assistant and help others who are new to the bootcamp learn the course material by giving lectures, presentations, providing project feedback and assisting with Figma questions. Now that my contract is over, I'm looking to embark on my next adventure in UX!
What am I like outside of design?
One of my favorite hobbies is looking up a new recipe from different cultures to try. Not only is the process of cooking incredibly fun for me, but also therapeutic and fulfilling when I get to feed others.
Here are some dishes I've made so far:
One of the greatest joys in life is being able to sight see and experience new cultures + traditions around the world. I've been to several countries across Asia, South America & the States. Europe is next on my travel list!
My Shopify store
Besides design, entrepreneurship & e-commerce is a passion of mine. In my free time, I like to self-learn social media + digital marketing techniques to market the skincare products that I sell in my online store. What better way to learn the trade than by doing it yourself?
My skills & experience
As a new designer, I'm always looking for ways to improve my skillset. These are some of the skills that I currently have as well as what I'm currently learning to become a more well-rounded designer.
